Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her home town. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father was from a Jewish background. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was only seven her family moved into Mendocino County California. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder read a lot due to the absence of television. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Lucas was released in 1986, and Ryder who was just 15 years old, was offered an acting job as a lead actress. Ryder had to deal with bullying throughout her time in high school. Ryder hoped her career in acting would alter that. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. But she pushed on with her dreams. In 1988 she had her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in various films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her role in The Age of Innocence (1993).
